- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup strawberry jam
- 1 cup whipped cream
- Fresh strawberries for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a bowl, cream the butter and sugar together.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each.
- Stir in the milk and vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool, then slice it in half.
- Spread strawberry jam on the bottom layer, add whipped cream, and place the top layer back on.
- Top with more whipped cream and fresh strawberries.
Notes
- This cake can be made a day in advance.
- Store in the refrigerator until serving.
- Use any fruit jam you prefer.
